This fall, the Wabanaki Alliance was proud to host “From Treaties to Today: Wabanaki Tribal Sovereignty in Maine,” a panel discussion about the Alliance’s work and an overview on the future of sovereignty for the Wabanaki Nations.
The event, held at the Johnson Hall Opera House in Gardiner, featured Honorable Donna Loring, a citizen of the Penobscot Nation and vice president of the Wabanaki Alliance; Osihkiyol Crofton-Macdonald, Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians Ambassador and President of the Alliance; and Maulian Bryant, a citizen of the Penobscot Nation and executive director of the Alliance. The panel was facilitated by Dr. Darren Ranco, a citizen of the Penobscot Ntion and professor of anthropology and coordinator of Native American Research at the University of Maine.
